Curiosities

Here you will find stories and episodes that seem funny or bizarre, make you smile or are simply interesting, but do not quite fit in with the other topics. Collecting curiosities goes back to ancient times. So-called cabinets of curiosities later develop into museums. Here the Latin term curiositas merely means curiosity. It includes the desire for sensation and the unusual.

It is curious, for example, that Dietrich Pinkoswki saw a Zeppelin flying over Stargard from the arms of his father as a small child, when the development of passenger planes was still in its infancy.

It is also amusing when Gerd Neumann talks about the performances of his male ballet. Especially at the women’s carnival, it is customary for the men of the village to perform a cheerful and frivolous show dance.

Curiosities here is meant as a loving classification. We thank all participating contemporary witnesses for the cordial insights into their biographies.
